Report: 7th Oral Argument Held on August 6, 2026

On August 6, the 7th oral argument for Youth Climate Case Japan was held at the Nagoya District Court, where one plaintiff and the legal team presented their statements. This date marked exactly two years since the lawsuit was filed on August 6, 2024. During this hearing, expert reports were also submitted to the court.

Once again, the number of visitors who came to observe the trial exceeded the courtroom capacity, so a lottery was held for public seating.

At the post-trial debriefing and networking session, the plaintiffs and their legal team provided an explanation of the courtroom proceedings and key legal issues. More will be published in an upcoming issue of the Youth Climate Case Japan Newsletter.
